When an Arch Rises Again
There are some bonds that do not loosen simply because time stretches them thin. Many years ago my sister, Arch Trinity Vuissent, disappeared into lands none of us could follow. There was no final address, no ceremony marking the moment. She was simply gone. Our father called her retired, but I never accepted that word. I have always recognized her as what she is. An Arch does not stop being an Arch because she steps away from her throne.
When she returned two years ago, she did not come back to a bloodline waiting with banners raised. She returned without one, and so she stood within ours. She and her family took shelter in Arcem Serpentis, within Harbingers of Blood, and we welcomed her not as a displaced ruler but as my sister. An Arch. That is the truth of it. Titles shift. Structures fall and rebuild. Blood does not. She moved among us with the quiet steadiness I have always known in her. There was no need for declaration. She did not diminish herself, nor did she try to reclaim anything prematurely. She simply stood, and in that steadiness there was strength.
Recently, Vuissent was restored to her. What had been lost was returned, not as a favor but as a rightful reclamation. With that restoration comes her departure from Harbingers of Blood, because an Arch belongs at the head of her own bloodline. I would be lying if I said her absence will not be felt. It will. The cadence of our nights will shift. But this is not a fracture. It is a correction. It is destiny aligning itself properly again.
I am proud of her. Truly proud. Watching someone reclaim what is theirs after loss is not a small thing. She will leave our halls, but she does not leave our family. She remains my sister, and she will always be bound to us in ways that transcend structure. Vuissent will rise again under her hand, and Harbingers of Blood will stand beside her not in possession, but in kinship.
Some departures feel like endings. This one feels like restoration.
