After the Calling for Change
25th Day of January, the Year of Our Source 2026
I am still angry, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What occurred in that courtroom was not a misunderstanding, not a close call, and not a matter of interpretation. The evidence was clear. Photographic evidence plainly showed the breach. The defendant admitted ownership of the device. They admitted they knew the device was malfunctioning. They admitted the event occurred. At that point, the only remaining question should have been consequence, not credibility. Instead, the process twisted itself into knots to avoid the obvious.
What disgusts me most is not simply the outcome, but how it was reached. Standards were applied selectively. Evidence that was accepted when it demonstrated the violation was suddenly treated as unreliable when it established responsibility. Contradictory testimony was allowed to stand without reconciliation. Fatigue and indifference crept in where rigor and discipline should have held firm. This was not justice carefully weighed. This was a decision made because people were tired and unwilling to challenge a favored narrative.
The behavior after the verdict stripped away any remaining pretense. Taunting. Sexual gestures. Threats. And not from random onlookers, but from Infernals. Representatives appointed by Diabolical authority to assist and uphold the system. That distinction matters. When those aligned with power mock and intimidate the losing side after a ruling, it sends a message that the outcome was never neutral. It tells everyone watching exactly who is protected and who is expendable.
What makes this especially infuriating is the timing. We had just convened a Town Hall where Diabolic Antonia spoke clearly about the need to move forward with a clean slate. About rooting out toxicity. About changing the culture of the realm. I believe she is serious. I believe she is making a genuine effort. But asking the community to change its behavior while allowing Diabolic representatives to act this way is hypocrisy made visible. Accountability cannot be demanded from below while cruelty and bias are tolerated within one’s own ranks.
This case did not occur in a vacuum. The Blackburn family lives under a blood curse that causes them to lose more blood daily than other vampires. That is an ongoing punishment. A permanent vulnerability imposed by authority. Any system that judges them without heightened procedural care is already compromised. Any system that allows its agents to taunt them afterward has crossed from negligence into cruelty.
I am furious because I care about this realm. I care about legitimacy. I care about whether the laws we claim to uphold actually mean anything when enforcement is inconvenient or politically uncomfortable. If justice only applies when it is easy, then it is not justice at all. It is performance.
I will not forget this trial. I will not forget how the process failed. And I will not remain silent about the contradiction between what is preached publicly and what is practiced privately. If we truly want a less toxic realm, then those who hold power must be the first to change their conduct, not the last.
