When the Blood Remembers
17th Day of December, the Year of Our Source 2025
I did not expect today to land the way it did.
Twixi wants to come home. Not in a dramatic way. Not with excuses. Just… plainly. She said she was hungry for it. For family. For connection. For the Harbingers. And I believed her.
There is a difference between someone asking for absolution and someone realizing what they walked away from. She was doing the second. That matters.
I reminded her that leaving hurt. Not as a threat. Not as leverage. Just as truth. We do not erase history here, but we also do not turn it into a weapon. We deal with things. Even when they are uncomfortable. Especially then.
The clan wants this too. That stood out to me. People who have never known a real family can usually spot one from far away. They lean toward it like warmth.
Blood has a memory longer than pride. Longer than anger. It knows where it was shaped, even when it pretends otherwise. I have seen that pattern repeat itself more times than I can count.
It will take time for everyone to find their footing again. That feels all right.
But it is real.
And sometimes, that is enough to begin again.
