A Kingdom’s Spine in a Time of Tension

9th day of August, the Year of our Source 2011
I sent our words out into the Realm tonight, signed not only by my hand but by Uriel’s, and stamped with the full weight of Sangre Luna. Not whispered to a single Arch. Not tucked quietly into a clan hall. No — this one went out to everyone. Every bloodline, every sovereign, every creature choosing to call this realm their home. It had to. Silence would have been interpreted as assent, and I am far too old to let someone else’s narrative swallow my people whole.
The feud between Eternal Love and Ravens Claw has been swelling like a storm cloud for weeks — fed by pride, missteps, wounded egos, and apologies tossed aside like scraps. Eternal Love tried to make peace — genuine attempts, not the feigned, performative kind — and Ravens Claw answered with raised hackles and sharper tongues. The entire Realm has been watching the two of them gnash at each other’s throats, waiting for the moment when the tension finally snapped.
Yesterday, it did.
Oberon named the war on the 8th. The declaration has already shaken the Realm, and its echo still hangs in the air like smoke that refuses to clear.
And though Sangre Luna stands apart in identity, we are tied to the same ancestry, the same broader bloodline, and the tremors of their conflict were already rolling toward our borders. Our people deserved clarity. The Realm deserved to know where we stand.
So I told them.
I said what has always been true for us: as a proud vampire race, we stand on our feet. We do not bow before anyone. Not for favor. Not for fear. Not because another clan, or the Arch, demands obedience to soothe its own wounded pride. Dignity is not something we barter. It is something inherent to our blood.
I wrote it plainly, without ornament, because the Realm does not need poetry when tempers burn this hot. They need something solid — a stone that does not shift with every accusation flung between bloodlines. Eternal Love may have made mistakes. Ravens Claw may feel provoked. Both truths can exist without forcing Sangre Luna to kneel beneath either of them.
There was a steadiness in me as I sealed the declaration — the kind that settles in a leader’s bones once the decision is made somewhere deeper than thought. I felt Uriel beside me, unwavering. Two sovereigns, one stance. A kingdom that will not be dragged into the mud by the chaos of others.
And now the war has a name. The swords have already left their sheaths; the first stones have already been thrown. The Realm will remember who held their ground while the storm broke.
For now, Sangre Luna has spoken.
And whatever comes next, we will meet it standing.
