The Day Misunderstandings Became War

The Day Misunderstandings Became War

9th day of August, the year of our Source 2011 — later that afternoon

I read Fides’ public note today.

I felt the tension in the air long before I opened it. The Realm has been stretched thin for days now, everyone whispering, watching, waiting for someone to say the wrong thing just loudly enough to ignite the room. And today, that spark finally caught.

Fides’ message was a torrent — frustration, apology, wounded pride, and explanations all tangled together. She spoke to the whole Realm at once, trying to make every offended party feel seen. But when a leader bleeds in public, the sharks do not pause to consider her intentions.

She admitted ordering the attack on Cammy. She insisted she meant it to stay between them, that she was trying to turn a personal feud into something cleaner, something contained. But the Realm does not care for containment when it feels insulted. Ravens Claw saw only an attack on one of their own, and Fides’ attempt to soften the story will not change that.

Then came the matter of the word she used in that infamous forum post — a word bound to too many graves in too many real lives. I felt the sting in her apology. I felt the grief behind it. But the Realm is not in a forgiving mood. Old wounds and personal histories have been scraping against each other for days now, and Fides’ note only exposed the rawness further.

She called out Lachiel. She addressed Oberon. She defended herself to Super Dexing. She tried to explain away misunderstandings that have already calcified into certainties. Her intentions may have been earnest, but earnest words thrown into a storm only swirl into the chaos.

And chaos is precisely what this has become.

This is no longer a matter of misunderstandings. This is a matter of pride — wounded, bruised, and looking for somewhere to strike.

As I read her words, I felt something settle in me. Not dread. Not pity. Something clearer. The recognition that the Realm is dividing itself whether we participate or not, and if Sangre Luna remains silent, someone else will decide our position for us. I will not allow that. I have lived long enough to know what happens when you let other clans tell the story of your posture.

Sangre Luna does not bend with the wind simply because louder voices demand it. We do not shrink under theatrics. We do not bow to anger that isn’t ours.

If the Realm must know one truth about us, it is the same truth we have always carried:

We stand on our feet.
We bow before no one.

And so I will speak next — not to soothe, not to take sides, but to make our stance unmistakable. Before this storm gathers enough force to drown voices who remained polite too long.

Sangre Luna will not be defined by someone else’s fury.
