When Oberon’s Fury Broke the Realm

8th day of August, the year of our Source 2011
Arch Oberon made his proclamation tonight.
The words were dressed in ceremony, inked like something meant for a courtroom or a temple, but the tone beneath them was pure fire. His fury was not wild, not uncontrolled. It was disciplined — the kind of anger sharpened by certainty, by righteousness, by the unmistakable scent of an insult that cuts to the bone.
Eternal Love struck his blood.
They attacked Camellia, his childe, his advisor, one of the few he keeps close to his inner circle. She greeted a stranger with courtesy, extended her hand in peace, and for that gesture Eternal Love descended upon her and tore her down. No threat. No warning. Just fangs in the dark and arrogance thick enough to choke on.
She died before she understood she was in danger.
There are crimes so catastrophically foolish they almost defy reason.
Attacking the childe of an Arch is one of them.
So Oberon answered in the oldest way our kind knows — swiftly, publicly, and with the full weight of his bloodline behind him. He issued a formal Declaration of War, posted for the Realm to see. Eternal Love is now named enemy to Ravens Claw. His people are ordered to unleash every resource available until the conflict is brought to a “successful termination.”
But he did not stop there.
An Order of Execution followed, written with the cold clarity of a blade sliding free from its sheath. The document names those condemned for their part in the treachery:
Rade Plasma.
Ashe Tigerfish.
Vampgirlx.
Beth Darkmatter.
Raven Oppenbaum.
Fides Torres.
And at the bottom, as if to remind the world what justice looks like when delivered without hesitation, Oberon posted a bounty:
L$10,000 for the head of Arch Fides Torres.
The first war of the Source’s Realm has formally begun.
This is no longer rumor, no longer tension simmering beneath the social chatter, no longer personal grievances spiraling into petty conflict. This is bloodline against bloodline. Arch against Arch. A strike that will etch itself into the bones of every vampire who survives it.
Before this war, our world was still new. Uncertain. Learning its shape.
Tonight, it became something older — something far more dangerous.
I keep returning to Camellia in my thoughts: her welcoming someone onto her land, offering safety, peace, civility… only to be murdered for it. The betrayal lingers like the metallic taste of old blood.
And then… as if the night had not already cracked open, another proclamation came.
Arch Super Dexing, speaking for the Brotherhood of Blood, announced that his line now stands with Ravens Claw. He called it a reluctant duty, but a necessary one. Eternal Love pushed beyond provocation into spite, violence, and disregard for all attempts at diplomacy. Patience has its limits — even among the oldest of us.
Two bloodlines now march against the Eternal Love bloodline.
Others will follow. The draw of alliances, loyalty, or simple fear will pull more leaders into the fray. Wars like this reshape the map of a realm. They decide the future. They mark those who fought and those who fell.
The night feels heavier than usual — charged, expectant, the kind of stillness that comes before something breaks.
All I can do for now is what I have always done in moments like this:
watch carefully,
listen deeply,
and write what others will later forget.
Whatever the next night brings, it will not resemble the one that came before.
