Overview

The Department of Combat & Defense provides structured, hands-on training in vampire warfare within the world of the Progeny.
Classes are held twice weekly at The Blood Shed, the Harbingers’ formal combat arena and training grounds.

Open to all members of the Bloodline, the program teaches both the laws and techniques of combat — from survival instincts to advanced aerial warfare. Every vampire is encouraged to complete the foundational level to ensure personal safety, awareness, and lawful engagement.

The curriculum advances from essential self-defense through complex multi-combatant engagements, building discipline, coordination, and endurance.
Training combines technical precision with instinctive reaction, refining every fighter’s ability to read opponents, control blood use, and act swiftly in both ground and aerial battle.

Those who complete the full program may be invited to join the Hounds of Alastor — the Bloodline’s elite combat division and sworn protectors.

The Curriculum

Level 1 – Ground Combat & Combat Law

Focus: Foundation, awareness, and lawful engagement.

  • Basic Combat Laws: Understand Bloodline regulations — fledgling protection, consent, and sanctioned combat.
  • Scan: Identify bloodlines, alliances, and potential attackers.
  • Bite: Practice accurate bite strikes and monitor blood gain differences.
  • Break: Learn to break an enemy’s bite and track blood loss.
  • Age Awareness: Study how age and generation affect combat timing and power.
  • Assist: Configure personal assist protocols and rapid call-for-aid responses.

Completion of Level 1 certifies fundamental awareness and defensive competence.

Level 2 – Advanced Ground Combat

Focus: Strength, precision, and controlled evasion.

  • Ground Combat: Refine movement, reaction time, and bite timing.
  • Advanced Biting: Develop directional control and spacing — including backward movement and 180° turns.
  • Evasion: Learn manual disengagement and recovery under pressure.

🕯 Completion of Level 2 prepares the vampire for flight and advanced combat readiness.

Level 3 – Aerial Combat & Coordination

Focus: Flight mastery, multi-opponent awareness, and communication.

  • Air Combat: Train in aerial pursuit, bite locking, breaking bites midair, and evasion.
  • Multiple Attackers: Develop situational awareness and target prioritization while managing blood levels.
  • Communication: Coordinate with allies using conference channels to share enemy names, ages, blood levels, and scan data.
  • Skill Reinforcement: Continue improving ground and flight skills through endurance and precision training.

Students at this level participate in field exercises against non-Harbinger vampires.

Level 4 – Elite Combat: The Big Fang Challenge Preparation

Focus: Endurance, control, and tactical discipline.

  • 1 vs 1 Duels: Engage older vampires in ten-minute duels without losing more than 20 % blood.
  • Aerial Engagement: Blend ground and flight tactics while maintaining combat awareness.
  • Command Communication: Perfect team coordination and rapid alert response.

Completion of Level 4 signifies full readiness for the Blood Regent’s personal trial.

Level 5 – Induction to the Hounds of Alastor

Focus: Final trial and honorary invitation.

  • Aerial Engagement 1 vs 2: Fight against at least two older vampires and sustain less than 20 % blood loss within ten minutes.
  • Big Fang Challenge: Face the Blood Regent Morrigan Alastor-Braveheart herself in combat — a test of resilience, awareness, and unbreakable will.
  • Invitation & Ceremony:
    Those who survive the Big Fang Challenge and have proven their worth are formally invited to join the Hounds of Alastor, the Bloodline’s most formidable warriors.
    A private ceremony marks their initiation, granting them the title and duties of a Hound.
    While not all who train become Hounds, those who endure the full Fight Club journey earn honor among the Bloodline’s combat elite.

Completion of Level 5 marks true combat mastery and recognition within the Bloodline.
